After having his island taken over by darkness, Yoshi moved in with Mario and as such can be found hanging out in Mario's Pad.

Every time 5 monster encounters have been overcome in a row without being defeated, Yoshi will have a new item for Mario. In hard mode, 10 encounters must be overcome.
The item Yoshi gives is determined when the last encounter is defeated, and each one has an equal chance:
- Mighty Guard
- Kerokerocola (Lemonade in hard)
- Manifest Illusion
- Hyper Shroom
- Elixir
- Dark Energy (Royal Jelly until Ozma is defeated)
In hard mode, if the party already has three of the item, a Royal Jelly will be given instead.
