Summary[]

Status ailments are various negative effects that impede an ally's ability to take actions or directly hurt them.

Caution: While most are not immediately dangerous (with the exception of Sleep), leaving them alone for too long can be risky as each ally can have multiple different status ailments at the same time.

Status ailments last until the character is downed, Auto-life is triggered, or the battle ends.

Unlike Debuffs, status ailments can be negated with magic, items, equipment, and Barrier.

Ailments[]

Fear: The ally cannot use their Physical Attack.
Mute: The ally cannot use any Magic.
Lock: The ally cannot use any Item.
Provoke: The ally cannot Defend. Instead, they can do nothing by selecting Stand By.
Poison: The ally takes 25% of their max HP as damage at the start of each of their turns. If they have 25% HP or less, they will be reduced to 1 HP instead.
Sleep: The ally cannot take any actions. Additionally, they take double damage from all sources. They will be woken up if hit by a physical attack (misses don't count). Poison damage applies as normal. Timed blocking can still be done like normal.
Curse: Any heals targeting the ally are reduced to 0. Negative effects are still cured. For magic and items that cure Curse, healing will be the normal amount.
Instant KO: The ally is instantly downed regardless of their HP. When this occurs, damage numbers are not displayed. Note that Dark attacks have a chance of activating this. The only way to prevent this is with Instant KO protection.

Note: Getting afflicted with Provoke or Sleep will immediately negate an existing Defend.
