Mario is the star of the show, the leader of the bunch, and the initial member of the party. He is a jack of all trades, capable of being the most powerful physical attacker with Ultra Hammer or most durable and varied mage with Luigi Hammer and eventually Galaxy Shell. The choice made for his level up bonus stats have the largest impact on his durability and damage of all the party members.
He is the only character to possess spells for all four elements, and he also is the only character with the ability to restore Flower Points through a spell. He is also the only character to not have innate resistance to any element.

- Unable to deal 30,000 in a single hit against almost every superbosses.
- Does not have any group target spells until the very end.
- Does not have any buff spells.
- Does not have any recovery spells.
- Does not have a revival spell.
- Does not have innate resistance to any element.
